Technology will always continue to become more widespread and continue delivering vast benefits. However, if the tech gadgets manufacturers do not take time to make the products more customizable and easy to personalize, it will seem to be a one-sided affair of profit making without giving the consumers what they really want. This is why there are many laptop deals which have add-ons and accessories as part of the deal when someone makes a purchase. Making individual patterns and cosmetic modifications will continue to grow fanatics as time passes. Popular options to have modifications done include having stickers and often, DIY paintings.

On the internet, there are many custom lid stickers being sold, with a number of sites actually allowing someone to submit a graphic image to have it transformed into a sticker and shipped back. This method is popular because it is very inexpensive, can be put in place very quick and after all, it does not take a rocket scientist to pick a sticker and paste it on the surface of the laptop. The one that takes a bit more skill is the painting, which needs someone to be able to take apart the computer case and then start doing manual painting. Furthermore, it is a nervy session because someone knows that any slight goof will remain permanently for all to see.

Design companies have started offering services where the laptop can be taken to a store and upon some agreement about the design, an artist can try to replicate the ideas he receives form the owner of the laptop. These artists have all it takes to do a professional job with the least errors possible. They do it in a safe environment, considering painting needs to be done in an open atmosphere to prevent inhalation of paint fumes which can get people sick. All that someone needs to figure out is whether he wants a classy design, graffiti, something geometric or something a bit abstract and oriental. Really, the options to whatever patterns can be done are limitless.

People like to have their own designs painted on a laptop because they express the personality of the owner. Furthermore, once the machine is stolen, it can be easily identified since someone can use the customized look to describe it. Therefore if the graffiti was a name or a known word, it would mean that there is a less chance that there are many other computers of the same design with the same name painted in the same way. Someone called Michael would have a hard time explaining why his laptop is written Jennifer all over it.

Other advantages include accentuating and marching the computer’s color with the overall design scheme of the room it is being used or the rest of the décor on the desk. Black exteriors do not always look unique in an artistic room. The need is even greater if the owner claims to be part of the “creative minds” percentile of society. The thinkers and artists would want to look different from the intellectuals and white collars.

Are there disadvantages to all these? Well, a laptop that has been painted means that the resale value may take a bashing, of course the design is something that the potential buyer is likely to clique with. Choose designs that can fit both a corporate set up and a street-wise design in case there is a great urge to paint it. Furthermore, some processes like sublimation will lead to uneven designs and depending on the paint used the laptop might look really ugly when age kicks in. The stickers will in extreme cases start to peel off.
