It is quite rare to see bookmarks being used as a commercially printed material, and this is probably the reason why there are so many mistaken notions regarding bookmarks. In fact, even postcard printing and postcard templates spend more time under the spotlight than bookmarks, especially since postcards are sent to customers all over the world using one of the most direct methods as possible. All of these things serve to make bookmarks one of the most misunderstood and least appreciated commercial printing products which also means that this product has a pretty extensive track record on myths and misconceptions surrounding it. Here are three things that even you may have gotten wrong regarding bookmarks.

Bookmarks are printed only in paper. The truth is that bookmarks can actually be printed on a variety of different media. However, it is also true that businesses would prefer paper or card for bookmarks because they are designed to be either given away or sold in the first place and paper would definitely cost less than metals, rubber, or plastic. This means that while the norm is using paper for your bookmarks, other alternatives are also open to you as a business owner and you do not have to get caught up with what the rest of the world is doing with their commercial prints. If you want to sell or give away some heavy-duty bookmarks instead of some custom postcards

Bookmarks are only for bookworms. Maybe you feel more comfortable with sending out some full color postcards or some photo postcards because you believe that only book lovers and bookworms would actually be interested in bookmark, let alone the publicity you put in it. However, a basic understanding on how the human mind (mostly, at least) works will tell you that people will appreciate and remember something as long as you use the right designs and distribution strategy. Many people will instinctively grab a bookmark and read the company name on it even though they are not remotely interested in books at all, and this is in large part thanks to good bookmark design and to the fact that people sometimes do not recognize a bookmark at first glance.

Bookmarks are not an effective marketing tool. On the contrary, bookmarks are probably just as effective as flyers or postcards, even if they work in more subtle ways. Not only this, bookmarks are also a good way to pass on some important information to customers, information that they would not normally bother to find out otherwise. Bookmarks may not be the most famous product of a commercial printing company, but it certainly does not mean that they are any less effective at getting you some regular and faithful customers. You just have to learn how to use them.

There are surely many more facts about bookmark printing that you are not aware of and misconceptions that have yet to be cleared up, but if you exert as much effort into understanding bookmarks as you do with postcard printing and postcard templates, you will not find a hard time finishing in no time.
