Aware Bear Computers Rochester NY had the chance to review the Asus G74SX-3DE gaming laptop. Priced at $2000-$2200 dollars this computer is well priced for the features it offers. This laptop promises to be one of the hottest gaming laptops for 2011 - 2012.

This powerful computer comes with the latest Intel Core i7-2630 8 core processor with the turbo boost technology, allowing the user to boost it up to 2.9 GHz, 12 gigabytes of DDR3 memory (RAM) (expandable to 16 gigabytes.) and a 1.5 TB hard drive. “I would trade my T series Lenovo laptop for one of these guys” says Andre Alves from Rochester NY.

A Blue-ray Disc with DVDRW / CD-RW Drive is also included with the Asus, a 17.3” LED high definition display powered by a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M graphics card, featuring 3 gigabytes of GDDR5 SDRAM with an HDMI output capable of 1920X1080 resolution.

A built in 2.0 MP webcam, 3 in 1 card reader, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, wireless LAN b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 interface, built in 100/1000 base wired lan and Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit operating system comes installed. Just make sure you have a router that will support the 100/1000 Asus LAN.

Asus did a great job pricing this laptop at $2000, if you try to build your own custom desktop computer using the same specs and having to purchase a LED screen, a webcam, a card reader and a Blue-ray player, at the end you will be pretty close to $2000.
The Intel Core i7 8 core processor really performs well; Aware Bear Computers Rochester NY tested several applications and games and concluded that Asus was able to put together a computer that can be used for gaming and power hungry applications.

The new LED technology helps the computer battery last longer, the 1.5 TB hard drive is big enough to store games, pictures, music and videos. “The overall black design gives this powerful gaming machine a stealth look, which reminded me of my Lenovo laptop” says Andre Alves from Rochester NY.

At almost 10 lbs., this is not a very portable laptop; Aware Bear Computers noticed that the fans can run a little bit hot when we used games and applications that required some extra processing. Almost any high end computer will run a little bit hot when running high end games or applications. .

Aware Bear Computers in Rochester NY recommends this laptop to anyone looking for a powerful, stylish and well-priced laptop computer. “In my personal opinion the Asus G74SX-3DE, has the power of an Alienware gaming laptop, the design of a Lenovo and it tough like a Panasonic Toughbook without all the padding and extra shock absorbents.
