K9 diabetes is very much on a rise. This diabetes is very common among dogs. It is shown by the statistics that this diabetes is developed by more than 400 dogs. There are many people who are ignorant about the symptoms of K9 diabetes. This ignorance can cause grave problems. It can lead to infections and blindness. If not treated properly it can lead to death. Given below are the main symptoms of this diabetes:

1. Dogs drink more water than usual. This acts as a red flag for most of the pet owners. Sometimes the pets feel thirsty all of a sudden. This continues for several days. this is mainly because of the rising levels of blood sugar. The body demands more and more water for attempting to flush out the glucose in the system. The amount of water that is being consumed increases to a great extent. One will never be aware of the symptoms. One can also show up frequent urination.
2. Frequent urination is also a major symptom of this kind of diabetes. Even if the pet’s increased water consumption is not noticed, frequent urination is easily noticeable. Pets ask for going out very often. Sometimes it becomes very difficult for the pets to hold the urine.
3. Pets sometimes feel tired and lethargic. Initially they are energetic companions. However, later they lose all the interest in their lives. All they want to do is just lay around. The pet owner may notice that the pet is very tired and weak most of the time.
4. Sudden weight loss or weight gain is noticed. The pet loses or gains weight without any reason. This is the time when one should see a vet. Sometimes the pet feels ravenously hungry but shows no signs of putting up weight or even losing it. This can be a major symptoms of many problems. However, canine diabetes is the only reason.
5. The pet’s breath is very sweet. This is contradictory to the usual dog breath. The breath of the put has a very sweet smell to it. This is the most obvious sign of the rising blood sugar levels. This is the time when the pet must be taken to the vet.
6. Another symptom of low blood sugar or hypoglycemia is shivering or shaking.
7. Sometimes the pets may also experience persistent infections. Thus one has to take proper care of the K9 diabetes.
