For those interested in art and painting in particular the Dionis Bennassar House Museum in Pollensa is a marvel to visit. The artist Dionis Bennassar was called the venerable Sun Pollensa; he was born in the region of Pollensa in 1904 and was educated and developed his artistic abilities in the city of Palma. The museum has a large collection of art not only by Dionis Bennassar, but by many other great artists and sculptors of the Balearic Islands. There are regular new displays and exhibitions in the 17th century house as well as seminars and classes for those wishing to try out new arts themselves.

The Palace of Almundaina is next to the Cathedral of Palma. The site itself is host to a palace which was on the brink of war with the Muslims in the 14th century. The castle is surrounded by beautiful gardens which are a delight to explore. In the south visitors can find shade when the sun is behind the imposing cathedral nearby, which is also an excellent place to walk around once they are finished with their tour of the palace.

The Can Planes Museum of Contemporary Art occupies the ground floor of the old manor Can Planes in Sa Pobla, which was renovated and modified in 1998. The permanent collection consists of over a hundred works by artists who live in Mallorca. The collection covers all styles and techniques of contemporary art including painting, sculpture and engraving, mostly made between 1975 and 1996. That was a particularly intense in the development of innovative contemporary art in the Balearic Islands. Courses and workshops are held in the annexes to the main building and the museum organizes a series of courses and seminars. In addition, a toy museum is located on the upper floors of the museum. The museum is closed on Mondays.

Albufera, the largest and most important wetland in the Balearic Islands, is a former lagoon separated from the sea by a belt of dunes. In the last two centuries due to human influence it has silted to become a wide floodplain. The nature park offers protection of some 1,708 hectares of marsh and dunes. The current wetland is less than 100,000 years old but the present dunes are still quite fresh, about 10,000 years.

Based on the ecological wealth of S'Albufera, an almost permanent flood in the natural park offers a lot of favourable conditions for vegetation and a variety of water depth, proximity to the sea and the soil type. A number of plant species to provide cover and food for many species of animals, which in turn are food for many others. With its wealth of diversity of living organisms being very high, S'Albufera supports the greatest biodiversity of any ecosystem within the Balearic Islands. There’s something for everyone in their VILLAS IN MALLORCA: something different from just lazing on the beach in the hot sun of Mallorca.
