When on your HOLIDAY TO SPAIN there are a number of monuments that are often mentioned which are worth visiting. Others are less well known but all should be held in high regard.

Estepona is a famous tourist destination in Spain because it is a city that has a bit of everything to offer its visitors. Tourism is a very important activity in the city, so all the tourists make sure they have enough time to visit at least some of the most important monuments of the city. The Lady of Remedies Church is a popular monument. The church has a beautiful legend that tells of how it was created. This interesting legend says it all started in 1400 when a crucifix was found in the middle of a pine forest. Those who took the crucifix have decided to build a hermitage in the forest of pines. They also founded a hospital and the entire complex become famous between 1725 and 1766 as the San Francisco Monastery. In 1889, the Church of the Remedies was built in the square and the clock was moved to the monastery; tourists visit it now as the Lady of the Remedies Church.

The Reloj Tower is actually what remains of a church that King Henry built in the 15th century. The origin was a Moorish tower, which is the source of so many other monuments in Spain, and it had a period where it functioned as a mosque. But the monument that tourists visit today has a great neoclassical dome which was added to the 18th century. Be sure to visit it; you are sure to be charmed by its beauty.

The Arena is one of the oldest and most beautiful monuments in Estepona. It was built in 1972 by the famous architect Juan de Mora. What is very original and interesting is that the monument has a very asymmetric elliptical shape. The Arena is one of the two buildings of its kind in the world; the other of similar construction is in Mexico.

The hermitage is not a very large building but impressive for its simplicity. It is believed that the shrine was built around 1818, when many of the most important monuments were built in Estepona. You should visit this city on your travels as it deserves your attention and interest.

Once you have been on a HOLIDAY TO SPAIN and seen some of the fantastic sights on offer, you begin to realize that Spain has a little bit of every country within its borders.
