When most people were scrambling to get their taxes done and mailed off on time, one group of determined women was celebrating the fruits of physical and nutritional hard labor as part of the inaugural Great Shape Fit Club Jean Drop Challenge.
The celebratory jean fitting last Friday, held at the Buckle in the Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville, was a sight to see. There were cheers and faces almost near tears as the Buckle’s attentive and caring staff helped each participant determine the correct jean fit and cut for their newly shaped bodies.
Kelli Podeyn and Jenise Cerna initially admitted they were hesitant about the celebration fitting. They said they were thrilled to discover their hard work did actually pay off, as The Buckle staff found jeans that had the pair walking out prouder and more confident after the challenge.
About eight weeks ago, ten women began the journey called the Jean Drop Challenge. The majority of the group was already well accustomed to working out on a regular basis and getting results through the Great Shape Fit Club boot camp program, founded by head trainer Concita Thomas.
What the ladies didn’t know when they signed up for the challenge, however, is that they would get a finer glimpse of what it really takes to ensure, to adapt and to change nutritionally and physically in a certain amount of time given a pinpointed focus and determination.
There were a number of life challenges that faced the program’s participants, but they pushed passed them to finish strong.
Nichole Bentley, of Coppell, is a mother of four and a successful businesswoman. She traveled out of town twice during the challenge, including an unplanned trip for a family emergency.
Janis Townsend, also of Coppell, was away in Peru for a week doing mission work. She had very limited access to the nutrition staples needed to maintain her challenge meal plans.
Many others had work challenges and schedule conflicts due to unexpected family obligations, but nothing was able to stop any of them from keeping their commitment to their fitness goals.
The Jean Drop Challenge officially ended Saturday, April 9, with all 10 participants getting into their goal jeans which they’d given to their trainer at the beginning of the challenge.
Amazingly, three of the challengers shrank out of their goal jeans. Bentley, Townsend and Tara Silver-Malyska had room to spare.
The Great Shape Fit Club Jean Drop Challenge allows for participants to drop up to two jean sizes over an eight-week period. The program includes personalized nutrition coaching, twice weekly semi-private metabolic training sessions and group boot camp sessions, among many other fitness tools. The experience culminates with a celebratory jean shopping trip.
The next challenge began Saturday, April 23, 2011, with a kickoff meeting, including many from the inaugural group. Michelle Traw said she will continue to do the challenge as long as it is offered.
The Great Shape Fit Club is a comprehensive, fat loss boot camp program for women. Each boot camp coach is a certified professional trainer. The boot camp program offers sessions at three convenient locations in Coppell, Lewisville, and Highland Village.
