This Satellite Phones Design Quality: Compared against the Iridium 9555 we were disappointed with the visual appeal. With hype about the superior ruggedness making us expect more. I’m sure it is adequately rugged, but not impressively so. More of a designer phone than a business fit. The finish seems overly plastic and toy-esque, and no leather case came with it either. The poor fitting battery cover doesn’t fit well, and the socket covers are weak and felt likely to break off. A quarter of the phone is in effect lacking with the antenna extended. The phone feels uncomfortable to hold, and it stands insecurely on its end.

The log-on process to register on the network is slower than Iridium by far (5 minutes versus 30 seconds), and its onscreen “help” isn't that helpful - more confusing to the user. For a first-time user this isn't the satellite phone to begin with as you'll feel left in the dark and perhaps stranded in a worst case scenario.

On starting to use the iSatPhone Pro you are informed to set the antenna upwards just like its competitor, but then you’re asked 'point the antenna at the satellite' without no super hero vision this is an impossible task based on guess work and hope. With no sign of a signal you are asked to turn 90 degrees and try again. Confusing process even to experienced Satellite Phone users..
