In other words, a higher fish intake was not associated with further risk reduction. The three types of omega-3 fats that were examined in the study included eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Another 2009 study published in the European Heart Journal on over 39,000 Swedish men found that consumption of omega-3 fats from fish was associated with lower rates of heart failure. Moderate consumption was described as eating fish rich in omega-3 fats 1-2 times a week. The researchers also found that there was no additional benefits from a higher intake of fish. Did you know?
