This was made the capital of Mughal Empire during the reign of Akbar. This site has a lot of historical monuments which are of great importance and hence it has been listed in UNESCO's World Heritage List. This place came into picture after a fierce battle between Babur and Rana Sanga. Buland Darwaza or 'the lofty gateway' was built by Akbar as a mark of victory over Gujarat.
