India is great destination for wildlife tourism. There are more than 400 national parks and over 100 wildlife sanctuaries in India containing the wildlife heritage of India. Each wildlife destination of India is famous for one or other species of flora or fauna. Let’s know about three popular national parks of East India.

Kaziranga National Park:
Kaziranga National Park is homeland of great Indian one-horned rhinoceros. The park is positioned in Golaghat and Nagaon district of Assam. It is a World Heritage Site as per UNESCO record. According to recent survey the park is known to house maximum density of tiger populations in India leaving behind Ranthambhore National Park. So, this is perfect place to enjoy tiger safari. Herds of elephants can also be easily spotted in the park. Tourist can also enjoy adventure of chasing tigers and other wildlife species sitting on elephant back.

Elephants, tigers, wild boar, jackal, wild buffalo, pythons, lizards, swamp deer, leopard, hog deer, sloth bears, jungle cats, otters, hog badgers, etc are common fauna found in the park. The park is also famous among bird lovers.

Sunderbans National Park:
Sunderbans National Park is located in West Bengal. It is a World Heritage Site and is largest reserve of Bengal tigers. The park is populated with mangroves forest. It is the largest estuarine mangrove forest in the world. The park contains a variety of birds, reptile, salt-water crocodiles and invertebrate species besides normal flora and fauna. The park is a paradise for bird lovers. Wide species of birds dwell in the park.

The park is mainly famous for highest density of Bengal tigers. The tigers in the park are known for their man eating tendency. As the park remain wetted with brackish water, the tigers in the park have developed a unique habit of swimming to comfortably adapt in the park.

Manas National Park:
The picturesque landscape attracts of Manas National Park attracts thousands of wildlife lovers every year. It is situated in Himalayan foothills in Assam. It is also a natural World Heritage Site. It is famous for its tigers and unique golden monkeys. The park is also known for housing rare and endangered wildlife species like Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare and pygmy. Tourist can also spot herds of elephants in the park. Simul, khoir, udal, sida, bohera and kanchan are the common flora of the park.

This park is also famous for bird watching tour. About 400 species of birds can be spotted in the park. Morning and evening hours are best for enjoying bird watching.

These are three famous national parks of eastern part of the country to be visited on India wildlife tours.
