Life More Abundantly - Youthful living

This really began to hit home with me being that I just had the conversation with myself about starting my old routine of playing basketball on the weekends. I guess what happened to me has happened to many of us as we become so enthralled with life that we neglectfully let our bodies go

Life More Abundantly

Get up, Get out, and Get active!

As I sat in church today struggling to follow the guest speaker as he delivered his message about enjoying life, I received the most awesome revelation.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the speaker was boring, but this particular Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday featuring the New Orleans Saints and I live in New Orleans. Let me just admit it now my attention span was shot 20 hours before I even arrived at Church today.

Our guest speaker placed a tremendous amount of emphasis on living life to the fullest, and staying active regardless of your age. I couldn’t help but notice that for a man of about 60 years old, he appeared to be in great condition. His scripture was based out of John Chapter 10 verse 10 which reads as followed;

“10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Being that guest speaker was the picture of perfect health for a man in his 60’s it didn’t take the congregation long to figure out where he was going with today’s message. Normally it wouldn’t have been such a struggle for me to follow the entire message, but the Monday Night Football theme song “are you ready for some football” kept echoing in my head.

Here is the part of the message that I was able to receive once I forced myself to focus. Our speaker selected the analogy of the “thief” in John 10; 10 to represent poor health brought on by a lack of exercise and destructive habits. The “steal” and “kill” section of the scripture was used to explain how your vitality and overall life span is at risk when you simply allow yourself to deteriorate.

This really began to hit home with me being that I just had the conversation with myself about starting my old routine of playing basketball on the weekends. I guess what happened to me has happened to many of us as we become so enthralled with life that we neglectfully let our bodies go. Poor food choices and a lack of exercise can equal a body that totally looks the part of an unhealthy person, and unfortunately I am on the road to getting an Oscar for my starring role in my own documentary of laziness.

Like all great speakers, after making me feel really guilty about not doing anything to perfect my general health, the speaker transitioned his message with the second part of the scripture. Over and over he shouted and pounded his fist on the podium, as he drove home his point.

You might have life more abundantly!
You might have life more abundantly!
You might have life more abundantly!

This was my moment where the light shines through the ceiling, this was my revelation that I needed to get off my butt and exercise. He closed this beautiful message by saying that we all need to Get up, Get out, and Get active.

I wanted to share this with you today because so many of our health issues are related to poor life choices and a lack of exercise, but here is the Good News. You can begin the process of changing the current condition of your body by simply committing to exercising one hour a day.

Get Up from your comfortable recliner, Get Outside, and Get Active!.
Just remember you will have life more abundantly if you Get up, Get out, and Get active!
