Help Us Create Sustainable Employment Today
Leap of Faith Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario Canada On July 2, 2009 I accompanied two Ishayan Monks, Brahma and Mahasakti and Primate-Archbishop Leonardo Marin-Saavedra to Ottawa to meet with Sylvain Henry. Leonardo is the Archbishop of the Anglican Orthodox Church of Latin America http://www.ial.galeon.com/ . The monks are from the Ishayas of the Bright Path www.thebrightpath.ca . It was an honour to be a part of this meeting. During our meeting, the former, and perhaps future, Mayor of Ottawa, Mr. Robert Chiarelli joined us, offering his support to the project. The project can be summed up in the six words that we are putting on our websites, blogs, t-shirts etc. “Help Us Create Sustainable Employment Today”. We need the mayors of every city and town to support this project and I have one small request. I am challenging every member of our group to approach the mayor and councillors of your city or town to ask them to be a part of this grass roots movement to help bring peace and prosperity to our world! In quoting Sylvain, “the cause is simple, safe and sure”. We also need the support of all the religious leaders of the world, regardless of their faith. The second phase of our meeting was to go to the Pakistani Embassy to meet with the Deputy High Commissioner and to present him with the Peace and Prosperity banner for the youth of Pakistan. We were meeting there to start discussing with them that we can help our friend Muhammad Khurshid (Bajaur Agency region, Pakistan) create sustainable employment for the youths of this war-torn area. Sylvain and the Archbishop went to the embassy and were very well received. The High Commissioner came to the park across from the embassy and warmly welcomed Brahma, Mahasakti and myself to Ottawa. As we unrolled the banner, a lone bird perched on the sculpture of a youthful face and watched the banner being opened. The Archbishop commented that perhaps the bird was the “spirit of our protector”. Perhaps this is a sign the time has come for all humans to know and share a new Peace and Prosperity. The High Commissioner endorsed what we are doing and offered their support. The energy during all of this was so high and positive. I feel that all of the Ottawa based embassies need to be approached and invited to be a part of this. I have faith that the response will be as positive as was the case with the Pakistani Embassy. I am confident that this meeting was one of what will become many meetings during the next several weeks. The Archbishop will be contacting the Argentinean Embassy in Toronto. The Monks have suggested that we have t-shirts printed with the Peace and Prosperity logo from the banner. I came away from the meeting with the feeling that together we can achieve this. I feel that everyone in attendance spoke from the heart and with a strong conviction to make this happen. I want to offer my sincere thanks to Sylvain for his courage and dedication to start this initiative and my intention is to follow his lead in helping to make this successful! “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. “ Margaret Mead About Author I am a freelance writer based in London, Ontario Canada.
