Building the Tapestry that is Business - Self Branding!

Someone once read my resume and said ... disdainfully "My... you've done a LOT!" Read... "You won't stay with us long and you'll be off onto the next thing." I think I was ummm 20 maybe... how MUCH could I have possibly done... seriously! I was a mum of one and I'd travelled... and yes, I could turn my hand to a few things... but A LOT!?? Perhaps the memory is hazy...

I never forgot that comment and for some reason I let it colour my attitude... When I realised I could 'do a few different things' I felt bad... I felt that I was TOO diverse, not sticking to one thing and just doing that and perfecting it...

People would ask me "So what do you do!?" and back in the day when they realised I had a little one or two they would follow up with "Oh nothing I suppose as you have children!" GULP! My how times have changed... for the better... thank goodness!

So I had all these 'things' I wanted to do and when I would say "Oh well I really like writing, and photography, but I'd like to be a midwife." People would raise their eyebrows and say "Bit different isn't it? Doesn't really all go together!" And I'd sigh!

Geez...think outside the box people! But...back in THOSE days it was all a bit much and perhaps I ran in the wrong circles - where little creativity flowed, I don't know!

And then one day I had quite the epiphany! Yes, I have a point and I am gonna make it I PROMISE... I realised that I was not limited to doing one thing... I can walk AND chew... so why can't I draw the ribbons together and create a maypole! All of the colours work in harmony - surely I can do that!????????? Surely I CAN!

So I have spent the better part of 18 months drawing the ribbons together - sometimes they get tied in knots (there's a glitch you aren't sure how to get around it - lack of funds or time or energy!) but as you untangle the mess you see a beautiful pattern emerge... and so it was for me...

Once I gathered my passions I realised each had a place and here is where they belong... please join me on the journey... I'll help you create a rainbow too!
