February 2009 Fashion Article
It’s been a busy few weeks on the fashion scene. With so many award ceremonies taking place, we can now see the new trends and colours emerging. Each year there is always a certain style, shape or colour to follow. So far this season there are plenty of colours coming through, so I have picked 2 of the strongest colours that are good to wear now through to summer. Bring on the sunshine! Coral Orange was present last season but appeared in more terracotta shades. This spring orange has progressed into coral. This lighter shade is feminine yet sexy.
Coral can be worn with any complexion adding colour to pale skin and a perfect contrast to darker olive skin. Nicola Roberts looks fab in her orange colour block dress
Being a bright colour, its best to wear with black or denim until it gets more summery. In the summer coral looks lovely with white
If you are not keen on coral opt for the richer shade of orange – these are deeper and can be more comfortable to wear. Whether you choose coral or orange, gold or black accessories will complement your outfit perfectly.
Blue Moving on from electric blue at winter, navy is a big colour for spring. This fab colour is great as it provides a relief from black but still allows you to feel slim wearing it
Navy like black goes with any colour it can also be worn with black. It’s an ideal choice for weddings or on holiday where you need to lighten your outfit.
This gorgeous tunic is a classic and can be worn now through to summer. As well as navy, cornflower blue is proving popular. This lighter shade is great for daytime.
Blue is a great colour for any complexion, the lighter shades do look better with a slight tan but navy can be worn by any colourings. Invest in blue, as it’s around to stay
Style Icon Looking great at the Brit awards, Alexa and Fern show how to mix blue with black.
Question and Answer I have got a wedding in March and am not sure what to wear, as the weather might still be cold? It can be cold still in March so if wearing a dress I would choose one that can be worn with tights. Black tights are perfectly acceptable to wear especially if the dress is a lighter colour. I would suggest opting for a dress with a slight sleeve to take the chill off. Often people ask me what to wear over a dress and the best suggestion would be to team with a pashmina so as not to spoil the look of your outfit. This dress from Lipsy is perfect for a spring wedding being a light colour it is fresh and will look great with black tights. It can be worn after the wedding with no tights in the summertime.
